The first China Think-tank Construction and Evaluation Summit was held in Beijing on October 19th. More than 100 experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, think-tanks affiliated to ministries and commissions, provincial and municipal local social science academies, and various think tanks from universities and enterprises, attended this forum.
The Report on the Achievements and Talent Evaluation of China Think Tanks in 2018 was released at the forum. Zhu Yongbiao (Associate Professor), the Director of Center for Afghanistan Studies (School of Politics and International Relations, Lanzhou University), was award as the “Young Model for Innovative Talents”. Papers written by associate Professor Zhou Ming and Professor Zeng Xianghong won the “Outstanding Paper Award”.
It is reported that in order to evaluate the think tanks fairly, impartially and openly, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Evaluation and Research has carried out several field researches and expert panel reviews to the applicant think tanks. Introducing the AMI Index System of Comprehensive Evaluation for Chinese think-tank, the Academy combined objective evaluation and self- evaluation, while carrying out comprehensive analysis and evaluation on the policy advices academic achievements and innovative talents. The goal, according to the Academy, is to encouraging the think tanks to serve the policy makers with high-level research.
A total of 478 declaration materials went through this evaluation, among which, 16 won the“National Policy Awards”, 8 won the“Local contribution Awards”, 10 won the“Excellent Report Award for Academic Achievements”, 8 won the“Excellent Work Award”,5 won the“Excellent Thesis Award”,and 4 individuals won the“Leader Award for Innovative Talents of China think tank”, 10 won“Pioneer person Award”and 10 won the“Young Martial Awards”. School of Politics and International Relations of Lanzhou University is the only one organization who won two awards at the Forum.
