Invitated by the School of Politics and International Relations, Lanzhou University, Professor Suha Atature, Chair of the International Relations Department at Istanbul Gedik University Turkey, visited the School and gave a lecture about "Turkey’s Concise Political History since the foundation to 2018" On the afternoon of November 16, 2018. All graduate students, international students and some stuff members attended the lecture.

Professor Atature firstly analyzed the development course of the nation’s regime and made a brief introduction of three regime types based on political science theory. Then he combed Turkey's political evolution and major events since the First World War, and interpreted the hot issues such as Turkey's effort to join the European Union and political changes under the President Erdogan. He said that his current visit to China had deepened his understanding of China, especially the rapid development of Chinese society and the wisdom of reforms in China which also provides inspiration for his research on Turkish political system. On the Q&A part, several students asked questions about the use of the concept "regime", Erdogan’s idea of governing the country, the conflict between Armenia and Turkey, and so on. Professor Atature answered them very precise and detailed and won loud applause.

After taking a photo with all attendance, Professor Atature expressed the hope to establish a deep and long-term cooperation with the School of Politics and International Relations of Lanzhou University. He also welcomed teachers and students from Lanzhou University to go to Turkey for academic exchanges.
